Stay sensibly cool this summer

Sensibo makes your air conditioning smart, helping you save on power

With summer here, it is natural that people would want to switch their air conditioners on to get some relief from the heat. But, if you keep it on all day, as you would love to, your electricity bill will soar like an eagle who has just taken flight. An energy efficient solution seems to be the need of the hour. There is an intelligent solution called Sensibo to address this need.
A small device, Sensibo helps you control your a/c and keep a check on your electricity bill. It lets you control your a/c from your smartphone with the help of a dedicated app that is available for iOS and Android. Sensibo connects the a/c with the Internet, and works on practically any machine in the market that works with a remote control. Like the remote control, Sensibo uses IR commands to communicate with your a/c.
The team claims that it can help you save up to 40 percent of your energy cost. In addition to being controlled remotely, the device makes the a/c control the temperature according to context and time. For example, it will increase the temperature of the room on a cold winter morning, and will cool a room down just before you are meant to get home after work during summer.
Sensibo has two parts, viz. the hub and the pod. The hub is connected to your network at home and the pod to your a/c unit. You also have the option of purchasing multiple pods for the air conditioning units in various rooms. The mobile app lets you control every unit that is connected, irrespective of your presence in the premises. So, you can relax about heating or cooling the house when there is no one in. During summer, you can keep the temperature up and can have the a/c start cooling the moment you leave office for home.
Each pod is powered by two microprocessors. It runs on two powerful CR123A batteries and has six tiny infra – red emitters, really strong, that point is all directions. This makes is quite easy to place it on your air conditioner and it works fine. Sensibo uses iBeacon to detect anyone’s presence in the room and adjusts the air conditioner accordingly.
While Sensibo does practically everything that the remote control does, the latter can work while Sensibo is working. The device is loaded with numerous sensors that, eventually, help in reducing energy consumption. The app is smart enough to give you an estimate of the power consumed and operational efficiency.
Early birds get to pledge at $159, and it just goes higher! So, get there before the prices soar. After all, the smart human being needs a smart machine.
