Ekam Foundation, an NGO, as part of the celebrations, has begun its massive cleaning operation of nearly 2,100 government hospitals across the state. Focussing on maternity and child health, the foundation is engaged in providing timely and quality healthcare for  infants of poor and vulnerable communities in government hospitals of Tamil Nadu.
 The foundation also creates awareness among people about government health insurance schemes. “Any parent who can’t afford their child for treatment can call our helpline (94459 22333) and we find funding to support them," said Dr Sailakshmi.
