This place was previously called as thiru-maru-thur
Muslim king Mula destroyed temples stating that the deity is
not giving speech to his daughter who was born speechless. Thus he demolished
every temple he come across. When he went to rameshwaram all priest were
apprehended. A priest of Ramasamy temple dream that if she have a holy dip in
Vasuki theirtham, she will start talking, similarly she called her father as
Naina, hence this place is called as ninar koil.
Ailed children are brought here & then is given to deity
that “the child is yours” either you take or give back healthily, thereafter
the child belongs to Naga Nathar. On curing of ailments, again the child is brought
to temple, laid before the Kodi Maram, then temple watchmen will announce for
action sale. Form one rupee to Rs 20 would be price and when it nears Rs 20/-
others will not bid and parents will pay Rs 20/- and will complete the process
of sale & purchase (vitru Vanguthal)
