The Velleeswarar Temple is located near the Mylapore Tank bus stop in the South Mada Street, off the Ramakrishna Mutt Road (R.K. Mutt Road), Mylapore, Chennai. The temple is dedicated to Sri Shiva as Velleeswarar and Divine Mother Shakti as Kamakshi Amman. From the backside of the Kapaleeswarar Temple, go to the South Mada Street to visit this temple (walkable).

 This temple is the abode of Sri Velleeswarar and Mother Kamakshi. It is on South Mada Street, right next door to the Kapali temple.

 Vellee = Sukra and Velleeswara = Lord of Sukracharya. Sri Sukracharya worshipped the Lord here and got back the eyesight he lost at the hands of Lord Vamana. You can see the statue form of Sri Sukra worshipping the Lord here in this temple.

 There are many who say that unless they are able to see God with their own eyes, they can't believe in the Divine. How can such arrogance "see" God when it takes aeons for a serious devotee to "see" God, ask the Siddhas. Yes, God can be "seen," they assure us, but first one has to get the right spiritual training. In the process of this training, one's eyes will be empowered with that spiritual vision that can perceive God. It is this eyesight that Sri Velleeswarar can bless us with. Pray to Him for such eyesight!

 Furthermore, the eyes are the windows of the soul. In this Kali Yuga, our eyes look at all kinds of scenes and become the entry points for all kinds of desires. It is Sri Velleeswarar who can protect you from falling prey to the desires inflamed by your eyes. It is He who can also give you the blessing that your eyes see only what is good for you.

 In the material world, Sri Velleeswara is the divine eye doctor who can solve eye related diseases and problems. Eye doctors must certainly offer worship at this shrine, instruct the Siddhas

தெய்வீக மணம் கமழும் மாதமாக ஆடி மாதம் திகழ்கிறது. இந்த மாதத்தை ‘அம்மன் மாதம்’ என்றே அழைக்கிறார்கள். அந்தளவுக்கு அம்மன், அம்பாள், சக்தி ஸ்தலங்களில் மிகவும் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த பூஜைகள், ஹோமங்கள், உற்சவங்கள், பால் அபிஷேகம், பூச்சொரிதல் போன்றவை விமரிசையாக நடக்கும். அதிலும் ஆடி வெள்ளி, செவ்வாய், ஞாயிற்றுக் கிழமைகள் மிகவும் சிறப்பு மிக்கவை. கோயில்களில் மட்டுமின்றி வீடுகள்தோறும் விரதம் இருந்து வேப்பிலை தோரணம் கட்டி அம்மனை வழிபட்டு நேர்த்திக் கடன்களை நிறைவேற்றி கூழ் ஊற்றுவார்கள். இந்த ஆடி மாதம் முழுவதும் அனைவரது வீட்டிலும் பக்தி மணம் கமழும். குறிப்பாக பெண்கள் இந்த மாதம் முழுவதும் விரதம் இருந்து தங்கள் வீட்டின் அருகில், தங்கள் ஊரின் அருகில் உள்ள அம்மன் ஸ்தலங்களுக்கு சென்று வருவார்கள். அந்த வகையில் அருகில் உள்ள தலங்களை சென்று தரிசிப்பது மிகவும் விசேஷமாகும்.

குபேரன் வழிபட்ட ‘வாஸ்து’ காளிகாம்பாள்

சென்னையின் முக்கிய பகுதியான பாரிமுனை தம்புச்செட்டி தெருவில் காளிகாம்பாள் கோயில் உள்ளது. இத்தலத்துக்கு பல சிறப்புகள் உண்டு. வியாசர், அகத்தியர், குபேரன் போன்றோர் வழிபட்ட ஸ்தலம். இத்தலம் காஞ்சி காமாட்சி அம்மனுக்கு ஈசான்ய திசையிலும், மயிலை கற்பகாம்பாளுக்கு வடக்கிலும், திருவொற்றியூர் வடிவுடையம்மனுக்கு தெற்கிலும், திருவேற்காடு கருமாரி அம்மனுக்கு கிழக்கிலும் வாஸ்துப்படி அமையப் பெற்ற தலமாகும். ஆதிசங்கரர் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்த அர்த்தமேரு சக்கரம் இங்கு உள்ளது.

நல்வாழ்வு தரும் மயிலை கற்பகாம்பாள்

சென்னை மாநகரின் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற ஸ்தலம் மயிலாப்பூர். இங்கு கபாலீஸ்வரரும், கற்பகாம்பாளும் அருள் புரிகிறார்கள். தல வரலாறுபடி சிவனை மயில் வடிவில் வழிபட்டதால் மயிலாப்பூர் என பெயர் ஏற்பட்டது. இது பாடல் பெற்ற ஸ்தலமாகும். சர்வரோக நிவாரண ஸ்தலமாகவும் விளங்குகிறது. இங்குள்ள இறைவன் - அம்பாளை மனமுருக பிரார்த்தித்தால் சகல நோய்களும் நீங்கி, ஆரோக்கியமான, வளமான வாழ்வு அமையும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை.

குடிசையில் அருளும் முண்டகக் கண்ணி

சென்னை மயிலாப்பூர் நகரத்தின் மையப்பகுதியில் இத்தலம் உள்ளது. இது ஒரு பிரார்த்தனை ஸ்தலமாகும். வேண்டியவர்க்கு வேண்டியதை அருளும் வரப்பிரசாதி. இங்கு அம்மன் சன்னதியில் கருவறை விமானம் கிடையாது. அம்மன் விருப்பம் அது என்பதால், காலம் காலமாக கீற்றுக் கொட்டைகைக்குள் இருந்தபடி அருள் பாலிக்கிறாள்.

ஞானம் தரும் முப்பெரும் நாயகிகள்

கொடியிடைநாயகி: சென்னை அம்பத்தூர் அருகே உள்ள பிரசித்தி பெற்ற ஸ்தலம். திருவுடைநாயகி: சென்னை - பொன்னேரி மார்க்கத்தில் மீஞ்சூர் அருகே உள்ள பிரசித்தி பெற்ற ஸ்தலம்.வடிவுடைநாயகி: சென்னை திருவொற்றியூரில் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற ஸ்தலம்.இந்த மூன்று அம்மன்களையும் செவ்வாய், வெள்ளி, ஞாயிறு, பவுர்ணமிகளில் வழிபடுவது மிகவும் விசேஷமானது. ஒரே நாளில் மூன்று அம்மனையும் தரிசித்தால் சகல பாக்யங்களும் விருத்தியாகும். குறிப்பாக கல்வி, கலைகள், ஞானம் சிறக்கும். மாணவர்கள் பவுர்ணமியன்று தரிசிக்க கல்வியில் மேன்மை

அடைவார்கள்.

திருமண தோஷம் நீக்கும் கருமாரி

சென்னை - பூந்தமல்லி அருகே மதுரவாயல் அருகே திருவேற்காடு உள்ளது. வேலமரங்கள் சூழப்பட்டிருந்ததால் வேற்காடு என பெயர் பெற்றது. அன்னை பராசக்தியே கருமாரி அம்மனாக அருள் புரிகிறாள். இத்தலத்தில் மிகப்பெரிய புற்றுக் கோயில் உள்ளது. திருமணத் தடை, திருமண தோஷம், ராகு-கேது தோஷம், காலசர்ப்ப தோஷம் போன்றவைகளுக்கு இத்தலத்தில் வேண்டுதல் செய்து பிரார்த்தித்துக் கொண்டால் தோஷ நிவர்த்தி ஏற்படும் என்பது ஐதீகம்.

பதவி உயர்வு அளிக்கும் மாங்காடு காமாட்சி

சென்னை பூந்தமல்லிக்கு அருகே உள்ளது மாங்காடு. இத்தலத்து அம்பாள் உக்கிரமாக தவமிருந்து தன்னை வெளிப்படுத்திக் கொண்டவள். ஆதிசங்கரரால் போற்றி துதிக்கப்பட்ட ஸ்தலம். உத்யோகத்தில் பிரச்னை இருப்பவர்கள், பதவி உயர்வு தடைபடுபவர்கள். இங்கு வேண்டிக்கொண்டால் உத்யோகம், தொழிலில் இருக்கும் தடை, தடங்கல்களை அகற்றி நல்வாழ்வு அருள்வாள்.

பாவங்கள் போக்கும் பெரியபாளையம் பவானி

திருவள்ளூர் மாவட்டம் ஊத்துக்கோட்டை அருகே அமைந்துள்ள பெரியபாளையத்தில் பவானி அம்மன் அருள்புரிகிறாள். ஆடி திருவிழா இங்கு 10 வாரங்கள் வெகு விமரிசையாக நடக்கும். மாநிலம் முழுவதும் இருந்து மட்டுமின்றி, ஆந்திராவில் இருந்தும் பலர் வந்து பொங்கல் வைத்து, அம்மனுக்கு முடிகாணிக்கை செலுத்துவார்கள். உடம்பில் வேப்பிலை கட்டி கோயிலை பிரதட்சணம் செய்தால் சகல பாவங்களையும் போக்கி பெரியபாளையத்தாள் வளமான வாழ்வு தருவாள் என்பது நம்பிக்கை.

சுக்கிர தோஷம் நீக்கும் ஆனந்தவல்லி

சென்னையின் மைய பகுதியில் நுங்கம்பாக்கம் ஸ்டெர்லிங் சாலையில் இந்த அம்பாள் அருள் புரிகிறாள். அம்பாளின் பெயர் ஆனந்தவல்லி. இது சிவ ஸ்தலம் என்றாலும், இங்கு சுக்கிரவார அம்மன் மிகவும் பிரசித்தி பெற்றது. சுக்கிரபகவான் தோஷம் நீக்கும் ஸ்தலம் என்பதால் சுக்கிரவார அம்மன் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறாள். இது பரிகார ஸ்தலமாகும். களத்திர தோஷம், சுக்கிரதோஷம் திருமண தடை போன்றவற்றுக்கு இங்கு வேண்டிக்கொண்டால் தடைகள் நீங்கி திருமணம் கூடி வரும். கண்நோய், கண் அறுவை சிகிச்சை செய்தவர்கள் இங்கு வந்து வழிபட ரோக நிவாரணம் ஏற்படும். இங்கு பல்லக்கு தூக்கி நேர்த்திக் கடன் செலுத்துவது சிறந்த பரிகாரமாகும். சுக்கிரவார அம்மனின் பல்லக்கை பெண்களே தூக்கி வருவது இத்தலத்தின் சிறப்பாகும்.

குழந்தை வரம் தரும் புட்லூர் அம்மன்

சென்னை - திருவள்ளூர் செல்லும் வழியில் காக்களூர் அருகே புட்லூர் என்ற இத்தலம் உள்ளது. இங்கு அம்மன் வித்தியாசமாக கர்ப்பிணிப் பெண் வடிவில் கால் நீட்டி படுத்து ஆசி வழங்குகிறாள். இத்தலத்தின் உள்ளே செல்வதே மெய்சிலிர்க்கும் அனுபவம். மஞ்சள், குங்கும வாசனையுடன் தெய்வீக அருள் பொதிந்து இருக்கும் தலம். இது குழந்தை பாக்ய ஸ்தலமாகும். குழந்தை பாக்ய தடை உள்ளவர்கள் மனதார பிரார்த்தித்தால் குழந்தை பாக்யம் உண்டாகும். கர்ப்பிணிகள் வழிபட்டால் சுகப்பிரசவம் உண்டாகும்.

வழக்கு, விவகாரங்கள் தீர்க்கும் மதுரகாளி

சென்னை தாம்பரம் அருகே பெருங்களத்தூரில் இந்த அம்பாள் அருள்புரிகிறாள். சிறுவாச்சூர் மதுரகாளியம்மன் ஆலய வழிபாட்டு முறையே இங்கும் பின்பற்றப்படுகிறது. இங்கு திங்கள், வெள்ளி கிழமைகளில் மட்டுமே மூலவரை தரிசிக்க முடியும். மற்ற தினங்களில் உற்சவரை மட்டுமே தரிசிக்கலாம். கோர்ட், வழக்குகள், மனநல பாதிப்பு போன்றவற்றுக்கு அம்மன் நிவாரணம் தருவாள் என்பது நம்பிக்கை. மதுரையை எரித்த கண்ணகிதான் சினம் தணிந்து மதுரகாளியாக வீற்றிருக்கிறாள் என்றும் சிலர் கூறுகின்றனர்.

கண்டுபிடித்து கொடுக்கும் அரைக்காசு அம்மன்

சென்னை - வண்டலூர் அருகே உள்ள ரத்தினமங்கலத்தில் அம்பாள் பார்வதிதேவி அம்சமாக நான்கு கரங்களுடன் அமர்ந்து இருக்கிறாள். செவ்வாய், வெள்ளி, ஞாயிறு, அமாவாசை நாட்களில் இங்கு விசேஷம். இத்தலத்து அம்மனை வேண்டிக் கொண்டால் தொலைந்த பொருள் மீண்டும் கிடைப்பதாக நம்பிக்கை, மேலும் ஞானத்தையும், ஞாபக சக்தியையும் தருபவளாக இருக்கிறாள். இத்தலத்துக்கு அருகில் செல்வத்துக்கு அதிபதியான குபேரன் கோயில் அமைந்துள்ளது.

திருஷ்டிகள் நீக்கும் காஞ்சி காமாட்சி

மிகவும் பிரசித்தி பெற்ற, பாடல் பெற்ற ஸ்தலம் காஞ்சிபுரம். ஊரின் மையப் பகுதியில் காமாட்சி அம்மன் ஆலயம் உள்ளது. இது சக்தி பீடங்களில் ஒன்று. இதற்கு காமகோடி பீடம் என்று பெயர். இத்தலத்து அம்மனை வேத வியாசர் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்ததாக தல புராணம் கூறுகிறது. இங்குள்ள ஸ்ரீசக்கிரம் மிகவும் சக்தி வாய்ந்ததாகும். சகல திருஷ்டி தோஷங்களை நீக்கும் சக்தி உடையது. ஆனந்தலஹரி என்ற ஸ்தோத்திரத்தை இங்குதான் ஆதிசங்கரர் பாடினார். இது நவக்கிரக தோஷம் நீக்கும் ஸ்தலமாகும். இங்கு பஞ்ச காமாட்சிகள் அருள்புரிகிறார்கள். ஆடி மாதத்தில் அம்மன் தரிசனம் செய்து அவள் அருள் பெறுவோமாக!

Sathguru Sri Viboothi Baba Sametha Sri Sai Baba Temple is located at Chitlapakkam and is one of the Greatest Pious Shrines in Tamil Nadu built on the Samathi of Sri Viboothi Baba. The sacred Udhi, Sandal and Kum Kum spring out from the Deities are considered to be highly divine enough to cure many complicated diseases and it is still being evidently proven by many.

Sri Nagaraja Baba, Founder of this temple, is the most reverent disciple of Sri Viboothi Baba and manages the temple efficiently. Siddhar temple at Madambakkam

Located very near to the Dhenupureeswarar Temple, this temple, called the Universal Shrine was constructed as instructed by the Sathguru Seshadhri Swamihal of Thiruvannamalai. Dedicated to the Mother Goddess in her form as the Maha Meru as per the ancient Sri Vidya tradition, to the 18 Siddhars – masters of infinite enlightenment and to the Sathguru, the Universal Temple is today a temple of peace and solace.A unique complex the Universal Shrine is the only one of its kind in the world reflecting the depth of India’s spiritual traditions, the sacred system of Sri Vidya and the mystical heritage of the sages of God realization.

Villivakkam – Avadi

Sri Agastheeswarar Temple at Villivakkam

This is a 9th century temple spread over a 2 acre space. Sage Agasthiar got the Brammaharthi dhosham after killing the demons Villavan and Vathabi. Since the demon Villavan was killed here, this is called Villavanpakkam and later Villivakkam. Agasthiar got his dhosham cleared off by worshipping Shiva here and Shiva gave dharshan to Agasthiar on a Tuesday. One of the Navagrahas Angarahan (Mars – Tuesday) took bath in the temple tank, now called Angaraha Theertham and worshipped Shiva to clear off his dhosham. So taking a bath in the temple tank on a Tuesday is considered very sacred.

Lord Shiva, in the name Agastheeswarar is facing east and Ambal Swarnambikai is facing south.

As Ambal and Guru are facing each other directly in this Kshetra, it is said that all those girls who worship Ambal receive the grace of Guru and get married soon.

There are two shiva shrines

Dwajasthambam and Nandhi are not in straight line to main entrance. The Dwajastham and Nandhi are in line with one shiva shrine whereas Rajagopura entrance is in line with the other shiva shrine.

The axle of Shiva’s chariot was broken here and got repaired after worshipping ‘Achu muri Vinayagar’ (in a separate adjacent temple) and so one’s obstacles will get cleared after worshipping the Vinayagar here.

There is also Maha Vishnu shrine and He is standing on a linga aavudaiyar; Anjaneyar is opposite Maha Vishnu.

Vijayaraghava Perumal Temple at Thiruputkuzhi

Significance:

One of the 108 Divya desams;

Ramar performed the last rites for Jatayu who attained moksha here.

Yadava prakasar, guru of Ramanujar preached Vedanta to Ramanujar here.

Location: Near Baluchetti Chattiram i the Bangalore highways, around 10  kms after the road to Kanchipuram,  about 100 meters inside from the Highways on the left side while going from Chennai.
Main deity: Vijaya ragava perumal in sitting posture with Maragadavalli thayar in separate shrines.
Worship significance:
Childless women come here, fry the green gram wash it and tie to their stomach and sleep in the temple premises that night. Next day if it sprouts, it is considered that their wish will be fulfilled.

On new moon days, doing poojas for ancestors after taking a dip at the tank is considered very sacred.
