Krishnama charya Healing and Yoga Foundation presents ‘Celebrating Sir’, honouring the life and teachings of T.K.V. Desikachar, who was one of the most illustrious yogis of our age. Affectionately known to his students as ‘Sir’, he first entered the yoga scene in the 1960s, and is one of the greatest contributors to contemporary yoga. Desikachar has travelled the world to spread the teachings of his father, T. Krishnamacharya. His book, The Heart of Yoga, has guided many yoga teachers, and it was he who pioneered the use ofline drawings as a shorthand for referring to asanas, and showed how Yoga Sutras could be taught and integrated fully into yoga practice. In August 2016, T.K.V. Desikachar passed away, after dedicating almost 50 years of his life to yoga.Celebrating Sir will be on from January 14 to 15, between3 p.m. and 7 p.m., at Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation,Greenways Road Extension, Raja Annamalaipuram.
