Tea, anyone?

Kahwa is the traditional Kashmiri tea. It is an exotic concoction made with green tea, saffron, cinnamon and cardamom in a fancy-looking samovar. Piping hot cups of this beverage are garnished with thinly-sliced almonds, and you can have your choice of sugar or honey to sweeten it. On a warm summer day with a cold breeze, a kahwa is just the thing to warm you up and give you a shot of energy. Of course, there are other claims too — it is said to be an anti-oxidant, it boosts your immune system, it cures your runny nose — but the sheer taste, besides the warmth it gives, should be enough to make you stop for one whenever you come across it. Whether you’re zipping between different scenic sights in your hired cab, or taking a relaxing ride in your shikara on the Dal lake, a cup of kahwa is always within easy reach. A kahwa mix makes for a great gift to take back for friends and family. It is truly the taste of Kashmir.
