The Ancient Way Ayurveda,
the indigenous science of food and medicine recommends making food your
medicine. And you could learn how with Mystic Yoga's programme, The Mystic
Living, a 50-hour-course that includes lessons in yoga and the basics of
Ayurveda, customised to the needs of every individual participating in it.
Everyday Healing "In
addition to introducing participants to basic concepts and terminology, we
teach them disciplined eating, portion control, food combinations and how to
detoxify and revitalise their body," says Saurav Maheshwari, 35, co-owner.
So, you could learn to make eight different kinds of drinks that together make
for a rather effective detox routine or trump up a mix of herbs and
spices.
5 Ayurvedic tips you could
include in your daily routine
1. Include pure ghee and honey in
your winter diet. Moderate consumption helps balance the kapha dosha.
2. Take an inch each of raw
ginger and raw turmeric, grate and boil together in water. Add a dash of black
pepper and consume. It will help cleanse the body and fight aches and
pains.
3. Half a tablespoon of mixed
seeds-white sesame, pumpkin, sunflower, flax and watermelon work best for your
daily dose of essential oils.
4. Replace tea and coffee with
fresh infusions made of herbs such as mint and tulsi.
5. Don't eat when stressed. Eat
when you are in a proper frame of mind. A positive mind is important.
