The battery of the vehicle has no connection with this process.While the phone can charge even when the two-wheeler is ot motion, it is available to go for a ride for the bike to generate more power. The installation of the device involves a little bit of work. Two wires from the device have to be connected to the inside of the bike. Any two-wheeler mechanic would be able to do this, within 10minutes. The charge on your phone will obviously not increase as quikly as normal charge. Say, if by normal way of charging for 20minutes, your mobile battery increases 5%, using this device would increase it by 2%.

Electric bicycle from Chennai to hit roads

The non-geared bicycle can also be pedalled like a conventional cycle. The Chennai-based Basil Energetics is ready to launch an electric bicycle, iZip, in Hyderabad by the end of this month. Fitted with a long-lasting and light-weight portable lithium iron phosphate battery (like the ones used in Tesla and Toyota), iZip can travel at a top speed of 20 km per hour. The cycle, which weighs 35 kg, can travel for 25 km per each full charging. The batteries can be charged in 90 minutes using either solar energy or power from the gird. The non-geared bicycle can also be pedalled like a conventional cycle. “We have field-tested the cycles in many places. The testing has been going on for the last three years,” says Dr. R. Ramarathnam, Chairman of Basil Energetics. “We will be approaching Pune’s Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) in about 15 days for certification. The cycles will be commercially available by November-end.” The 2.2-kg battery has 24 cells arranged in three rows of eight cells each. The total voltage of the battery is 25.6 volts. “The motor is 24 volts and the overall power stored in the battery is 240 watt-hour,” Dr. Ramarathnam says. The battery can be removed from the cycle and charged at home. The cells are imported from China and Basil arranges the cells in-house in Chennai. “There is an electronic circuitry called battery management system that ensures that current from individual cells is maintained constantand identical current flows through each cell. This ensures that that there is no internal damage to individual cells, so the life of the battery is prolonged,” he says. The battery will last for 2,000 cycles of charging and discharging. Recharging the battery after deep discharge (draining the battery completely) is also possible. iZip cycles have disc brake for the rear wheel and electric braking too. “When you pull the brake lever, a controller senses it and runs the motor in a reverse direction so the cycle comes to a stop quickly and steadily as the braking is done in a controlled fashion,” Dr. Ramarathnam says, explaining the concept behind electric braking. The axel of the cycle is removed and a hub motors is placed in its place. The motor shaft acts like a normal axel. The company uses its proprietary motor and motor controller for the bicycle. The total load carrying capacity of the bicycle is 150 kg, he says. “The on-road cost of iZip will be Rs. 25,000,” Dr. Ramarathnam says. “The running cost is low. Get thy vehicle papers in order

A lack of attention to documentation could cost you heavily, especially if the responsibility for someone else’s blunder falls on you.

Dilip Kumar, a Chennai-based businessman, discovered this recently when a police sub-inspector landed at his doorstep on a calm Saturday afternoon. A decade ago, he had sold his scooter to a friend who himself sold the vehicle later. Kumar knew his scooter trail only to the third buyer but what was unknown to him was that at some point, his old vehicle got involved in a hit-and-run case. Legally speaking, he is at fault!

Regional Transport Department sources and city police add that many like Kumar make the mistake of not completing the Transfer of Ownerships forms number 29 and 30 while selling a vehicle. Thus, the vehicle remains under the name of the original owner who is liable in case of an accident.

During the sale of a vehicle, the buyer and seller need to fill and sign both the forms and submit it to the Regional Transport Office under the jurisdiction of residence of the buyer.

The Original Registration Certificate of the vehicle and a copy of proof of address of the buyer must be furnished along with the submission which has a government fee.

Following address verification, the Regional Transport Officer stamps the change of ownership on the RC making the sale of vehicle legal.

While the RC goes to the buyer, the seller retains a copy of the RC with the fresh stamp.

கால நிலை மாற்றங்களில் வாகனங்களை காப்பது எப்படி?

தமிழகத்தில்தான் அனைத்து பருவ காலங்களும் மாறி மாறி வரும். டிசம்பர் முதல் பிப்ரவரி வரை தமிழகத்தில் பனிக்காலம். இதைத்தொடர்ந்து கோடை காலம் ஆரம்பித்துவிடும். இந்த காலக்கட்டத்தில் கார்களும் பைக்குகளும் சந்திக்கும் பிரச்சி னைகள் ஏராளம். இவற்றை கொஞ்சம் முன் எச்சரிக்கையோடு இருந்தால் தவிர்த்துவிடலாம்.

காலச்சூழலுக்கு ஏற்ப வாகனங்களை பராமரிப்பது என்பது மிகவும் அவசியமான ஒன்று. இப்போது பின் பனிக் காலம் நடக்கிறது. சென்னை மாதிரியான வெப்பமான பகுதிகளிலேயே மாலை 5 மணி முதல் காலை 8 மணி வரை பனி பொழிகிறது. அடுத்த இரண்டு மாதங்களில் கோடைக் காலம் தீவிரமடைந்துவிடும்.

இப்போது பனியால் வாகனங்களுக்கு நிறைய சிக்கல்கள் ஏற்படுகின்றன. இரவு நல்லபடியாகவே ஓட்டிவந்த காரை, காலையில் அலுவலகம் செல்வதற்கு அவசர அவசரமாக கிளப்பும் போது, ஸ்டார்ட் ஆகாமல் பெரியளவில் தொல்லை கொடுக்கும். இதற்கு முக்கியக் காரணம் பேட்டரி செயலிழந்து போவது தான். கார்களின் பேட்டரிகள் குறைவான வெப்பச்சூழ்நிலையில் இருக்கும் போது பிரச்சினைகளை சந்திக்க ஆரம்பித்துடும்.

இதேபோல், காரின் என்ஜின் உட்பட முக்கிய உதிரிபாகங் களுக்குள் செலுத்தப்படும் ஆயில் மற்றும் இதர திரவங்கள் பனிகாலத்தில் இறுகக்கூடிய வாய்ப்புகள் அதிகமாகும். இதனால் உராய்வுத்தன்மை சரியாக இல்லாமல், கார் ஒழுங் காக இயங்காமல் போகும். இது தவிர பனிக்காலத்தில் டயரில் உள்ள காற்று அழுத்தத்துக்கு உள்ளாகும். இதனால் டயர் பாதிப்படைகிற அளவுக்கு கூட பிரச்சினைகள் வரக்கூடும்.

இது குறித்து ராயப் பேட்டையைச் சேர்ந்த கார் மெக்கானிக்கான சுரேஷிடம் காலச்சூழலுக்கு ஏற்ப கார்களை பராமரிப்பது எப்படி என்று நம்மிடம் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டதாவது:

வெயில் காலம், பனி காலம், மழை காலம், என மாறி வரும் காலச்சூழலுக்கு ஏற்ப கார்களையும் பைக்குகளையும் பராமரிக்க வேண்டும். நிறைய பேருக்கு சர்வீஸ் காலத்தில் மட்டும்தான் கார்களை பற்றிய சிந்தனை வரும். ஆனால் அப்படியிருக்கக்கூடாது. சராசரி யைவிட ஒரு நாள் வெயில் அதிகம் அடிக்கிறது என்றால், அன்றைக்கு வெறுமனே புலம்பி விட்டு கடப்பதற்கு பதிலாக அன்றைக்கு வாகனங்களையும் கவனிக்க வேண்டும். இதேபோல் திடீரென்று மழை பெய்தாலும் வாகனங்களை சோதிப்பது அவசியம்.

பனிக்காலமோ வெயில் காலமோ பேட்டரி பாதிக்காமல் இருக்க முதலில் வாகனத்தை கூரைக்கு கீழ் பார்க் செய்வதை பழக்கப்படுத்த வேண்டும். அதற்கு வாய்ப்பில்லாதவர்கள் குறைந்தபட்சம் மிகவும் கனமான துணிகளின் மூலம் கார்களை மூடி வைக்க வேண்டும். ஏனென்றால் ஒரு காரின் பேட்டரி 32 டிகிரி செல்சியஸ் அளவுக்கு மேலே போனாலோ அல்லது, மிக அதிகமான குளிரை சந்தித்தாலோ கெட்டு விடும்.

வாகனங்களுக்கு போடப்படும் ஆயில், குறிப்பாக என்ஜின் ஆயில் மிகவும் முக்கிய மானது. குளிர்காலத்தில் ஆயில் திடமாக மாறிவிடும், இதே போல் வெயில் காலங்களில் ஆயில் எளிதில் தீர்ந்துவிடும்.

இதனால் என்ஜின் சீஸ் ஆவதற்கு வாய்ப்புகள் அதிகம் உருவாகிவிடும். குளிர்காலத்தில் இரவில் வண்டியை நிறுத்திய பிறகு, பகலில் ஸ்டார்ட் செய்து ஒன்று அல்லது இரண்டு நிமிடங்களுக்கு நியூட்ரலில் வைத்து ஆக்சிலேட்டரை கொடுக்க வேண்டும். இதுவே வெயில் காலம் என்றால் 3 அல்லது 4 நாட்களுக்கு ஒருமுறை என்ஜின் ஆயில் அளவை சோதித்து பார்க்க வேண்டும்.

டயர்களில் உள்ள காற்றழுத் தத்தை கவனிப்பதும் மிகவும் அவசியம். வெப்பம் குறைந்தாலும் கூடினாலும் டயர் வெடிக்கவோ அல்லது எளிதில் சிராய்வுகளை சந்திக் கவோ வாய்ப்புகள் உள்ளது. குளிர்காலத்தில் டயரின் கொள்ளளவுக்கு ஏற்ப சரியான அளவில் காற்றை வைத்திருக்க வேண்டும். மேலும் வெயில் காலமென்றால், முதல் வேலையாக பழைய டயர் மற்றும் ட்யூப்களை மாற்ற வேண்டும். காற்றின் அளவை கொள்ளளவை விட கொஞ்சம் குறைவாக வைத்திருக்க வேண்டும். இல்லையென்றால் ஓட்டும் போது எதிர்பாராத விதமாக வெடிக்கவோ அல்லது வேறு அசம்பாவிதங்களை ஏற்படுத் தவோ வாய்ப்புள்ளது.

கார் கண்ணாடிகளில் பனி படர்ந்திருக்கும் போது, உடனடியாக வைப்பரை ஆன் செய்யக்கூடாது. கண்ணாடி யிலுள்ள பனியை சுத்தமாக துனியை கொண்டு துடைத்துவிட்டு அதன் பின்னர் வைப்பரை இயக்க வேண்டும். ஏனென்றால், வைப்பரின் அடிப்பாகத்தில் உள்ள மெல்லி பஞ்சு போன்ற பகுதி ஏற்கெனவே பனியில் ஊறியிருக்கும், அது இயங்க ஆரம்பிக்கும்போது, சிதைந்து கண்ணாடியில் கீறலை உண்டு செய்துவிடும்.

வெயிலிலும், குளிரிலும் ஸ்பார்க் பிளக் சீக்கிரமே பிரச்சினைக்குள்ளதாகி விடும். இதனால் இக்னிஷன் பிரச்சினைகள் உண்டாகி ஸ்டார்டிங் பிரச்சினைகளை ஏற்படுத்தும். குளிர் காலத்தின் போது பிளக்குகளில் துரு பிடிப்பதற்கும், வெயில் காலத்தில் அவை விரிவடை வதற்கும் வாய்ப்புகள் உள்ளன. இதை தடுப்பதற்கு முக்கிய வழி முறையாக வண்டிகளை உறையிட்டு மூடி வைப்பதும். வாகனங்களை முறையாக சர்வீஸ் செய்வது மட்டுமேயாகும்.

எனவே, மாறி வரும் காலச் சூழலை கணக்கில் கொண்டு முறையாக பராமரித்தால், எந்த நிலையிலும் வாகன பயணம் மகிழ்ச்சி யானதாக அமையும்.
